sing along, kids
tonight weezer played a secret show for, no WITH, about 200 people in seattle (more pics). they’ve been doing these hootenanny sing-a-long’s up and down the west coast all week. the deal was simple. weezer posted a video with instructions on how to play 6 songs, and local radio stations organized contests and spaces where locals could play along with the band.
some of the locals at our show were serious musicians. there was an amazing fiddler who rocked out (and was pretty hot to boot), some profession woodwind players, great horn and guitar sections, and a little tyke of a drummer who kept the beat. it was awesome.
the first song was pork and beans and everyone was kinda nervous during the first take. by the second one we were all singing and playing along and it was a joy, especially when the show climaxed at say it ain’t so. everyone always sings along to that, so it was super energetic. radiohead’s creep was by far the toughest song of the night.
